MC5 sortira le vendredi 18 octobre 2024 son nouvel album Heavy Lifting ,le premier depuis 53 ans, via le label EAR MUSIC (Pré-commande)
Wayne Kramer a enregistré l'album avec le producteur Bob Ezrin (Lou Reed, Alice Cooper, Kiss). Le batteur original du MC5, Dennis « Machine Gun » Thompson, participe à deux morceaux, ainsi que des invités spéciaux tels que Slash, Tom Morello, William DuVall (Alice in Chains), Vernon Reid (Living Colour), Don Was et Tim McIlrath (Rise Against).
Wayne Kramer est décédé en février, suivi par le décès du batteur Dennis Thompson en mai.
